Global Research Forum
The Society for French Studies is delighted to announce the launch of an online global research forum, allowing scholars from outside the European / US academy to present their work, exchange ideas, and network with other researchers based in the 'Global North'. We hope that this initiative might also connect the society better with colleagues beyond Europe and the US, strengthening the society's presence globally.
We are excited to see this initiative take shape and are very much open to suggestions for future speakers, themes or ideas regarding the format; we envisage one forum per semester.
Our inaugural seminar willtake place on Friday 30th October 2026 at 1pm (BST), on the theme: 'Faire taire le passé, ouvrir les archives — familiales, locales, nationales'/ 'Silencing the past, opening the archive — familial, local, national'. We are delighted to host two excellent speakers:
- Dr Siba Bartaki, The English and Foreign Languages University Hyderabad, will present on "La politique de l’invisibilisation du travailleur engagé indien".
- Dr Angélique Ibáñez Aristondo, University College Dublin, will speak on "Violences de genre, silences et autorité narrative dans La Maison vide de Laurent Mauvignier".
Papers will last 20 minutes each, allowing 15-20 minutes for discussion; we will wrap up by 2pm BST. To join, click the link below.
