The Society awards a number of prizes each year, recognising and rewarding excellence amongst undergraduate and postgraduate students, early career researchers, and authors of books in the field of French studies.

R. Gapper undergraduate essay prize

A prize is awarded annually by the Society for French Studies for the best essay submitted by an undergraduate student at a university based in the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland.

R. Gapper prizes

The Society is pleased to confer the R. Gapper prizes upon scholarly work of outstanding merit, quality and value in the field of French and Francophone studies. Three separate prizes are awarded each year to work by undergraduates, postgraduates, and established researchers. Prizewinners must be based at an institution in the United Kingdom or Ireland.
