PG Gapper prize winner

The Society for French Studies is pleased to announce that the recipient of this year’s R. Gapper Postgraduate Essay Prize is Madeleine Chalmers (Trinity College, University of Oxford), for an essay titled ‘The Surreal Technics of André Breton and Gilbert Simondon’.

The R. Gapper Postgraduate Essay Prize includes an award of £750 and expenses-paid travel to the Annual Conference of the Society, to be held this year at Royal Holloway, University of London from 1 to 3 July.

The Society for French Studies offers its congratulations to Madeleine Chalmers on her achievement, and also to Rebecca Sugden (Gonville and Caius College, University of Cambridge), whose essay (‘Sand and Rancière: Artisan Socialism and the Inadequacies of Idealism’) was selected as runner-up for the prize.
