We are delighted to announce the winners of this year’s R. Gapper undergraduate essay prize. Submissions this year covered a wide range of periods and topics: literature, language and thought from the Medieval era to the 21st century; cinema; history; linguistics; politics; disability studies; critical theory.

The Society awards an annual prize for an essay by a postgraduate student, on any subject within the scope of French studies. This year's competition is now open.

The President of the Society for French Studies invites expressions of interest in the positions of General Editor and Co-Editors (2) of French Studies. The three positions are available from January 2019 when the current General Editor, Professor Tim Unwin, and one of the two currrent Co-Editors, Professor Russell Goulbourne, will both be standing down.

Colleagues in French Studies are encouraged to apply for research funding relating to the MEITS project. MEITS is an exciting multidisciplinary project funded by the AHRC under its Open World Research Initiative (OWRI). It includes six research strands which explore multilingualism from a range of perspectives.
