The
Society for French Studies is a major learned association
concerned with French Studies at a tertiary level in the United
Kingdom and Ireland. The membership has increased in recent years,
and it now includes, libraries, curators and a body of postgraduate
students. Membership is open to any person interested in the aim
of the Society which is to promote French studies at a tertiary
level. A reduced rate is available to retired members, postgraduate
students, members not in full-time employment, and new lecturers
in their first three years in post.
The annual subscription entitles members to receive all four issues
of French Studies: a Quarterly Review to be published in the year
of their membership and all four issues of French Studies: a Quarterly
Bulletin. Membership also allows purchase of the Society's other
publications at favourable rates. It is worth noting that the annual
subscription is treated as an 'allowable expense' by the Inland
Revenue for Income Tax purposes. In addition, members receive full
online access for the complete archives for both FS (from Volume
1, 1947) and FSB (from Volume 1, 1981) which is an invaluable resource
for any French studies scholar.
