The Society welcomes scholars of international standing to its annual conferences, and looks forward to its 55th annual event at Aberdeen.

At its 54th annual conference in July 2013 at the University of Nottingham, the Society was honoured to welcome the Ambassador of France, His Excellency Bernard Emié, at its opening keynote reception.

The ambassador underscored centuries of cultural interaction between France and the British Isles and the enduring relevance of this relationship, graciously entertaining the Society as well.

Society members enjoyed the welcome reception at Highfield House on the Nottingham Campus.

We would like to thank the University of Nottingham and its Department of French and Francophone Studies for their welcome and hospitality, and the Ambassador for his participation.
